Dauphin Island

We spent an afternoon at Dauphin Island.

The girls enjoyed The Estuarium, but we had to keep an eye on them because Lila almost got swiped by a deep sea diving explorer! (I'm only joking Mom!)

We all took a turn in the old school deep dive equipment...

I can't remember if Wayne said it was okay to include this picture, so get a good look, it may have a very brief appearance on the blog.

All the little girls had a great time learning about the aquatic life of Dauphin Island.

The older girls loved showing Lila new things and it made my heart smile to see Hannah and Leah take such good care of my little Lila.

Lila was really intrigued by the octopus, or maybe it was a squid? Anyway she was interested but wouldn't get too close. We've seen a lot of The Little Mermaid lately, I wonder if she wasn't thinking it would grow really big and mean like Ursula?

The Estuarium was a lot of fun and we enjoyed our picnic snacks on the covered deck watching the boats go by and pelicans flying around. It was great! And there was an oil rig right off in the distance that was really cool to learn about!

Our next stop was the Historic Fort Gaines, but we didn't stay long... it was too HOT!

Fort Gaines has a rich history taking part in the Civil War, Spanish-American conflict, World Wars I and II, and is currently being used by the Coat Guard to take part in crash rescue boat operations.

Dauphin Island proved to be both fun and fascinating! I really wanted to spend some time at the beach there but Emily's cast would have hampered that fun a bit, so next time we're hitting the beach!

Sweet Home Alabama

Okay, so Alabama is not our home, but Wayne's sister and brother-in-law moved there about a year ago and so we went to their sweet home in Alabama for a great Allen family visit! We all love hanging out with Uncle Lee, Aunt Gigi, Uncle David, Aunt Sarah, Hannah and Leah. Wayne and I really love spending time playing cards and laughing into the wee hours of the morning with the grown ups after the kids have gone to bed.

The trip was a long one, 10-11 hours in the car, but the girls did great and the trip there didn't seem so long.. coming home, a different story completely. They were still good but we all felt the loooong drive home!

So... here's our Alabama Vacation!
On our way..

Emily being cool in Mommy's sunglasses.

And Lila watching a "mogie" while taking care of her baby.

A Day in the Life...

*Warning* This post is a doozie!!
Here's a day in the life of Lila and Emily.
It started with playing outside. Lila is still in her jammies in case you were wondering...

Then we met up with our friends for lunch and a movie at Studio Movie Grill. Kung Fu Panda was funny.. taking five kids all three and under, not so funny...

Here is Cindy and Jill with all the kids... no one is really looking in either picture.

Emily's cat nap on the ride home...

While I was getting Emily's bottle (yes, still takes a bottle for naps, but don't worry we brush those teeth) Lila announced that she could do it. Both girls disappeared and here is how I found them... I guess Strawberry Bubble bath might taste better than Soy Milk??

Emily went down for a nap...

And the real fun begins...
We did an art project, okay stickers, but it's art to me...

Read books... (Quiet time)

Played 'Little Mommy'...

Lila is such a good little mommy to her triplets!

Jumped on the trampoline...

Played Mommy again...

She is even teaching them their ABC's..

More art, coloring this time...

More Mommy...

Then we had to play 'Baby'...

I thought she might actually take a nap...

But she was just joking...

On to puzzles...

Daddy's now home and Emily is up...

Dinner...

More Fun Outside...

Lila and Daddy had to do a little work with the hammer..

More Trampoline Fun..

Ha! The ONLY reason I am embarrassing myself here is because I think my girls will laugh with me some day on this one...

Trip to Sonic for slushies...

Bath...
Hopefully Emily will get her cast off tomorrow and we can go back to bathing in the big tub!

Dance Party...
With Honey Pie, Lila's stick horse that goes with us everywhere and waits for us in the car... seriously, church, movies, Target, he is guarding the car and waiting for us... sweet pony!

Bedtime Stories...
That would be a secret, sacred Allen moment... : )really I couldn't get in there for a picture or it encourage her to want to get up and out, etc. etc.
Now they are both down and out now! Yea!! And we get to start all over tomorrow at the Orthopedic Surgeon's office... stay tuned!
All in a day! Wow! I'm exhausted! So, what did you do today?
Thanks for bearing with me on this one. I've wanted to post about one whole day before but have never taken the time to do it.. Now I have!
